Author Kimberly Ford Chisholm appears at the Guild Theatre in a benefit for the Ravenswood Literacy Challenge on March 3

The  Ravenswood Literacy Challenge is underway. This is a month-long campaign with events for community members and Ravenswood students has set a goal of raising  at least $1.5 million dollars for essential literacy programs — reading intervention teachers, literacy coaches and professional development — and encourage Ravenswood students to read extra minutes beyond the school day.

The first special event will be A Storied Evening with author Kimberly Ford Chisholm at the Guild Theatre on March 3. Kimberly will give  a book talk about the short story “Dance in America” from Lorrie Moore’s collection Birds of America.

The event is free to all who register and guests will be invited to support the Literacy Challenge at the event.
