Stop leaks, save water during National Fix a Leak week

by Contributed Content on March 16, 2026

National Fix a Leak week begins March 16. During this time, it’s a good reminder to check your home to find and repair water leaks on your property. Minor leaks account for more than a trillion gallons of water wasted each year in U.S. Homes. Water is a precious resource and it’s important to manage its use efficiently to meet future needs, save money on your water bill, decrease energy use and preserve the environment.

Helpful resources:

  • Visit the detect a water leak webpage for simple steps that can help you to determine if you have a water leak on your property.
  • Request a self-audit leak toolkit which assists customers to measure the flow rate of their faucets and identify where to look for potential leaks.
  • Request a free water saving fixture such as a low flow shower head or bathroom sink aerator.
  • For more water conservation rebates and incentive programs visit the City’s water conservation webpage.
  • Coming soon… Menlo Park Municipal Water customers will have access to hourly water usage data and automated leak alerts. Visit menlopark.gov/AMI for more information on the project.
