Robin Scholl is featured artist at Portola Art Gallery in April

“Around the World” — an exhibition of watercolor with pastel paintings by Bay Area artist Robin Scholl — is featured at the Portola Art Gallery in April.

A reception for the artist will be held on Saturday, April 11, from 1:00 to 4:00 pm. Visitors can also meet Robin at the gallery on Tuesday, April 14, and by appointment.

The diversity of the work reflects how scenes from around the world have shaped and inspired Robin’s creative process. Using an unusual mixed media technique of watercolor and pastel, she creates vibrant color palettes and dynamic compositions.

The inspiration for the work in this show stems from her frequent travel abroad beginning more than 35 years ago. Even then, she carried a large and heavy Minolta camera along with several lenses, coming home with countless scenes to explore later in her studio.

The Portola Art Gallery is located within the Allied Arts Guild at 75 Arbor Rd., Menlo Park.
