Local author Karen Nelson talks about new book “The Last Summer at Feather River” at Kepler’s on May 20

by Linda Hubbard on May 18, 2026

On Wednesday May 20, at 7:00 pm. Kepler’s is hosting local author Karen Nelson, debuting for her new novel, The Last Summer at Feather River, which has been described as “a genuine page turner, driven by a galloping sense of suspense and delivered in deft and assured prose.”

A Peninsula native, Karen’s love of riding horses in the foothills of the Bay Area helped inspire the novel, which is set in a fictional summer horse camp called Feather River in California.

Part coming-of-age, part suspense, and part a story of redemption, The Last Summer at Feather River is a novel about damage done, secrets kept, sacrifices made, and whether it can be put back together after it all unravels.

Karen Nelson will be in conversation with author Pam Houston. Buy tickets in advance online.
