Oak Knoll Girl Scouts deliver summer reading books to Belle Haven students

Oak Knoll 4th grade Girl Scouts Troop 61716 helped share the joy of reading this spring through a Summer Reading Book Drive benefiting students at Belle Haven School in east Menlo Park.
The book drive, held May 18–22, collected gently used and new early reader books for students in kindergarten through second grade. Oak Knoll families contributed books through collection bins on campus, and the Girl Scouts sorted and prepared the donations for delivery with the help of the Brownie troop.
The troops created book bundles for Belle Haven first graders that included early reader books, handmade bookmarks with encouraging messages, journals, and pens.

On May 28, the Junior Girl Scouts visited Belle Haven classrooms to deliver the bundles and spend the afternoon reading with first grade students.
The project was organized in partnership with the Ravenswood Education Foundation, which supports educational opportunities for students in the Ravenswood School District.
