Rotary Club Foundation awards $164,000 in scholarships at 41st Annual Scholastic Achievement Ceremony

For the 41st year, the Rotary Club of Menlo Park hosted its Annual Scholastic Achievement Awards Ceremony. Held at the Menlo-Atherton Performing Arts Center, the awards recognized outstanding students from Menlo-Atherton High School, Eastside College Preparatory, Sacred Heart Preparatory, Menlo School, and East Palo Alto Academy.

Student achievements spanned academics, arts, athletics, leadership, and community service, selected by faculty members from each school.

The Menlo Rotary Community Foundation awarded $164,000 in scholarships to graduating seniors pursuing higher education, while also providing $51,000 in grants to local nonprofit organizations. Scholarship recipients were selected based on academic achievement, financial need, and service to their communities.

“These scholarships represent more than financial support,” said Rotary Club President Ali Irturk. “They are a vote of confidence from the community. They tell students that we believe in them, that their hard work matters, and that we are invested in their future.”

Many of the scholarships awarded during the ceremony bear the names of longtime community members whose generosity continues to create opportunities for future generations. Through the Foundation’s Sponsor-A-Scholar program, donors make four-year commitments that help students throughout their college careers, creating connections that often extend far beyond financial assistance.

The scholarship program itself is made possible through a uniquely local partnership. Donations from individuals, families, businesses, and community foundations are joined by proceeds from Tour de Menlo, the annual community bicycle ride organized by Rotary volunteers.
