4th annual Hillview practice ride

Laurel Safe Routes volunteer Meredith Bergin Bailey sent news of the 4th annual practice ride to Hillview Middle School:

“On Saturday morning, almost 60 people biked from Encinal, Laurel, and Oak Knoll elementary schools to Hillview Middle School. This was the 4th Annual Practice Ride to Hillview. It is a tradition that allows rising Hillview Hawks (and their parents!) the chance to practice their route to school.

“Once at Hillview, participants enjoyed snacks and talked about biking safely. Student cyclists were reminded to follow the rules of the road, to be predictable, and to be safe!

“The Safe Routes Supporter program was also highlighted. This program gives downtown businesses the opportunity to commit to allow young cyclists a place to wait safely if they have mechanical issues. Supporters include Cheeky Monkey Toys, Fleet Feet, Peet’s Coffee and more!”
