“To Ground and to Flow,” a collection of acrylic paintings exploring the restorative landscapes that ground or move us is the featured exhibit by Christina Lim at the Portola Art Gallery in September.

A reception for the artist will be held on Saturday, September 12, from 1:00 to 4:00 pm. In addition, visitors can meet the artist at the gallery on September 5 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm, or by appointment.

painting by Christina LimChristina’s journey began with a BFA from California College of the Arts, followed by 25 years in design leadership before returning to her easel in 2020. A devoted lover of nature and the divine, she explores landscape painting as a means to create visual sanctuaries, inviting us to stay grounded like the trees or flow like the tide.

Recognized with multiple awards as an emerging artist, her work prioritizes emotional resonance over literal depiction. She often transforms daytime reference photos into serene evening scenes to evoke peace, explaining: “A landscape is just a picture until we put our spirit in it. My paintings are portals for people to enter and dwell within — places of refuge to help us pause, breathe, and make room for hope.”

Christina’s work can be viewed online.

The Portola Art Gallery is located within the Allied Arts Guild, 75 Arbor Road, Menlo Park. It is open Monday-Saturday from 11:00 am to 4:00 pm and on the first Friday of the month from 6:00 to 8:00 pm.
