Three wise men on the move

To delight of neighborhood children, the three wise men – part of a Nativity scene at 455 Cotton St. – are once again inching their way to Bethlehem. Explains homeowner Bill Russ: “I probably began this Nativity scene about 20 years ago. For  awhile I put it on the roof of the house, where it was stationary. But getting up on the roof each year proved impractical, so I put the figures on the lawn – but all together. About five years ago I had the inspiration to start the three wise men and camel on one side and move them a bit each day closer to the Christ child,  culminating on Christmas day. I know the wise men didn’t arrive for about three years, but this is the best I can do and children seem to to enjoy the affect.”
