More Menlo rock memories circa 1970 at Peninsula School

by Linda Hubbard on February 10, 2010

Corry Arnold has followed up his fun post on his Lost Live Dead blog that recounted the intersection of Menlo Park and the Grateful Dead (with a little Ken Kesey lore thrown in for good measure) with another about an April 29, 1970 performance of the New Riders of the Purple Sage – with Jerry Garcia sitting in – at Peninsula School (serving the needs of progressive education in Menlo since 1925).  The casual concert was the start of what Arnold notes was  a long term relationship between the two bands. Another must read for rock  history fans complete with some great photos – and it all happened in Menlo!
