Church cross lit again for Easter season
The 40-foot cross at Bethany Lutheran Church is ablaze with lights again – this time for the season of Easter. Long a fixture that can be seen driving west on Santa Cruz Avenue, the cross was first lit during the most recent Christmas season. “People put Christmas lights on on their homes but churches don’t typically do so.” said Pastor Jon Coyne. “We got the idea of lighting our cross, and the response was so favorable we decided to keep the lights up and light the cross at other times of the year, too.” The current lighting will extend through the liturgical season of Easter, which is May 23 this year.
