New children’s choir being formed in Menlo

by Linda Hubbard on August 25, 2010

Long time choir director Maureen Fromme is starting a new children’s choir, Cantate Dolce Children’s Chorale. She says she wants “to enable children to experience the joy of singing and to gain a love for music through age-appropriate vocal training.”

The choir is open, by audition, to boys and girls in grades 3-5.  While rehearsals will take place at Bethany Lutheran Church where Maureen is a part-time employee, she says the choir is non-sectarian and open to any child who has “a commitment to faithful and punctual attendance at rehearsals and performances.” Tuition is $125 per semester.

At auditions, which begin on Friday, Aug. 27 and continue on various days through Friday, Sept. 10, potential choir members will be asked to participate in echoing singing, to sing using the vowel sounds ‘ah-eh-ee-oh-oo’, to read a brief paragraph aloud, and to learn a short song or phrase.

To get more information and audition schedule, call Maureen Fromme at (650) 854-5897 or email her at maureen@bethany-mp.org.
