Eat, bid, applaud – Project Read-Menlo Park annual fundraiser set for Saturday, 9/25
Get ready for some tasty desserts and the opportunity to bid on some unique experiences at Project Read-Menlo Park‘s 4th annual TASTE DESSERTS! for Literacy fundraiser on Saturday, Sept. 25, from 7:00 to 9:00 pm at the Burgess Recreation Center.
“We’re looking forward to building on this signature event for Project Read,” says event co-chair Kristi Breisch. “This year, a portion of the silent auction proceeds will support our program focusing on adults and their preschool-aged children. By serving the whole family we promote generational literacy in family and community members.”
This year’s event features a silent auction, community literacy awards, testimonials, and live music provided by Monsters Are Not Myths. Auction items include lunches with ABC7 weather forecaster Spenser Christian, pro soccer general manager Ilisa Kessler, author/investment manager Elton Sherwin, State Senator Joe Simitian, and State Assemblyman Ira Ruskin.
Tickets can be purchased in advance for $20 at Café Zoe, 1929 Menalto Avenue; Kepler’s Books, 1010 El Camino Real; and the Menlo Park Library front desk or Project Read office, 800 Alma Street. They will be available for $25 at the door.
Project Read serves the Menlo Park community with a free library-based literacy program. Since 1985, more than 3,000 adult learners have made educational and economical progress. Volunteer tutors work one-to-one with adults to help them improve reading, writing, and speaking skills.
