Before the front that rolled in overnight, the last time it had rained in the Menlo-Atherton area was on January 12 – and that was a measly .1″. While state weather watchers assure us we are not in a drought, the warm, dry days of January 2011 were a bit strange.
There was .4″ in my gauge by mid-afternoon Sunday (1/30), bringing my season-to-date total to an even 10″. This compares to 13.25″ one year ago. We are halfway to where I would like us to be when the season ends – 20″ minimum!
