by Linda Hubbard on July 25, 2011

Band leader and drummer Brian Andres is bringing his Afro-Cuban Jazz Cartel to Fremont Park on July 27 from 6:30 to 8:00 pm.  According to the band’s website, the group’s music extends the Bay Area’s Latin Jazz history begun by artists such as Cal Tjader and John Santos. Their CD, Drummers Speak, features all original arrangements of tunes written by notable drummers/percussionists Tito Puente, Art Blakely, Jack DeJohnette, Francisco Aquabella and more. The appearance is part of the city of Menlo Park’s Summer Concert Series.
