Theologian James Alison at Trinity Church on Nov. 12

by Linda Hubbard on November 8, 2011

Theologian Dr. James Alison will lead a conversation titled “Liveable, Prayable, Preachable: A New Paradigm for Faith,” presenting material from his recently completed book/DVD The Forgiving Victim, at Trinity Church on Saturday, Nov. 12.

Alison’s work on The Forgiving Victim is meant to present the Christian faith in a fresh way, offering a new paradigm and a new perspective, one that seeks to release the transformative power of the Gospel that so often fails to be released in many expressions of church. He is the author of many books,
including Knowing Jesus, The Joy of Being Wrong, and Faith Beyond Resentment: Fragments Catholic and Gay. He is best known for the application of René Girard‘s anthropological theory in theology and for being a firm and gentle encourager of truth telling on the gay issue within the Roman Catholic Church.

Welcoming and “check in” for Alison’s talk will being at 9:00 am. The presentation and discussion will begin at 9:30 am and run until 11:30 am. The public is welcome; there is no cost, but donations will be accepted. Please register online or by calling 650-326-2083 (extension 2).

Trinity Church is located at 330 Ravenswood in Menlo Park
