The Friends of Huddart and Wunderlich Parks (FOHWP) has announced its first event in the newly-launched Folger Stables Speaker Series. This inaugural event will feature three nationally known and admired local painters, who will discuss their work as well as exhibit several of their pieces for sale.

FOHWP with the support of the Woodside Gallery, Hurlbut-Johnson Charitable Trust, and San Mateo County Parks will host the event on the grounds of the historic Folger Stable in Wunderlich County Park in Woodside on Sunday, May 17 from 4:00 to 6:00 pm. Admission is free, but tickets for entrance must be ordered via Eventbrite due to limited space.

The three artists — Jim Caldwell, Kit Colman, and Sheila Finch — derive many of their themes and inspiration from the landscape throughout the Peninsula. Each artist will talk about the importance of the natural environment in their paintings and will also describe their artistic process. In addition, each artist will showcase several pieces of their artwork in individual pop-up galleries around the Folger Stable grounds. All the paintings will be for sale, with a portion of the proceeds to benefit the Friends of Huddart and Wunderlich Parks.

For the past 23 years, FOWHP has been devoted to working with San Mateo County Parks Department to support park improvements and to educate school children about local history and the local environment. FOHWP’s launch of the speaker series represents a deeper involvement with the community by expanding its educational offerings to include adults.
