Closing party is planned for Foster’s Freeze on September 30

Foster's Freeze closing signMenlo-Atherton High School grad Susan Laird and her husband travelled all the way from Folsom, California, over the weekend to bid adieu to the landmark she grew up with, Foster’s Freeze.

While there, she visited with Sung Lee and his wife, who’ve operated the ice cream/burger shop for three decades. They are retiring, and Foster’s will close on September 30.

To mark the occasion, the Lees are planning a closing party in the adjacent parking lot from 5:00 to 7:00 pm.

Best of luck! They are the nicest, friendliest people. It will be missed!

I emailed the M-A Class of ’59 regarding the closing of Foster’s Freeze. I received countless emails from all over the country expressing sadness and saying how much Foster’s was a part of their childhood, high school & family life.

Thank you, Mr. and Ms. Lee for so many happy years of cones, sundaes and memories!

Oh no!! That was my first job with my good friend Sally Boone. We had so much fun working there. Must have been around 1968. I was 15. I have a picture of myself serving up some soft serve.
