Holiday festivities kick off December in Menlo Park

Kicking off two days of festive events is the holiday tree lighting at Fremont Park from 5:30 to 7:00 pm on December 4. Festivities include treats, a family movie, and Santa appearance.

The next morning, December 5,  the City of Menlo Park Community Services Department hosts the annual “Breakfast with Santa” from 7:30 to 11:30 am at the Arrillaga Family Recreation Center located at 700 Alma Street. Activities will include pancake breakfast, letter writing to Santa, holiday crafts, balloon twisting, visiting and picture taking with Santa.

The cost is $7 for adults (13 years old and above) and $5 for children (12 years old and under). $1.00 off ticket price with donation of an unwrapped toy for the Fire Fighter Toy Drive. Reservations are required and are available online.

Taste of Mountain Wine walk logoLater on Saturday, from 2:00 to 5:00 pm, is the inaugural Menlo Park Taste of the Mountains Wine Walk, showcasing wineries of the Santa Cruz Mountains in downtown businesses.  Sponsored by Greenheart Land Co. and the Santa Cruz Winegrowers Association, all proceeds will benefit the Menlo Park Atherton Education Foundation.

Participating wineries include Bargetto Winery, Big Basin Vineyards, Burrell School Vineyards, Byington Vineyard and Winery, House Family Vineyards, Kings Mountain Vineyards, Mindego Ridge Vineyards, Russian Ridge Winery, The Mountain Winery, Thomas Fogarty Winery and Woodside Vineyards. Don’t forget to mention the work CHRISTMAS. After all, it is about the birth of Christ….not all the commercial profits!
