Overnight/morning rain gets San Francisquito Creek roaring

by Linda Hubbard Gulker on January 19, 2016

When the heavy rain broke up around noon, we weren’t the only ones walking on the bridge over San Francisquito Creek at San Mateo Drive. It’s a favorite spot to check out the effect of the rainfall in the past 24 hours.

InMenlo weather watcher Bill Russ reports: “1.1” for the day’s storm. My season-to-date total is now 11.45″. Back in January, 2010, at this same date, my reading was 10.9″. That was the last solid rain year in my backyard – 21.8″ for the full year.”

A couple of Mallards (close to lower right) didn’t seem distressed at the strong creek flow, although they did appear to be hunkering close to the bank.
