“Holding the light for kindness” candlelight vigil planned for Friday night

The community is invited to attend a candlelight vigil on January 20, 2017, from 6:oo to 7:00 pm at Fremont Park (corner of Santa Cruz Ave. and University Ave.) in Menlo Park. The event will take place even if it is raining.
“We are inviting you and your families and friends to join together in bringing light to dark places and cast out intimidation, bullying, bigotry, and exclusion,” emailed Menlo Park resident Gail Sredanovic, one of the organizers. “We gather in a collective prayer and pledge to protect the earth and all of her people!
‘Together as members of a strong community we offer our love to support and celebrate diversity and pledge to honor and protect each unique individual as we stand together in light to uphold the Constitution of the United States of America for all.”
The organizers are asking to participants to bring a candle, flashlight or lantern. The Rev. Matthew R. Dutton-Gillett of Trinity Church will be present and there will be an information table.
A similar vigil was held in November following the presidential election.
