Spotted: Sign announcing The Pet Place is closing
Lynn Macy, who owns The Pet Place with her husband Mark, had let InMenlo know a few weeks ago that they’d made the difficult decision to close what is one of Santa Cruz Avenue’s institutions. She’s doing so with a heavy heart. We’ll have more details about a final clearance sale and GoFundMe campaign to cover closing costs in the future.

We at Palo Alto Humane Society are very saddened by this news. Lynn and Mark and The Pet Place have supported us for many years through organizing pet food drives, holding events, and providing donations. We are disheartened that they will be gone from the community.

This is the worst. Shame on you for people for paying by credit card. Now Bow Wow has a monopoly. This is the worst.

Oh No! I have been telling people to do all their shopping at The Pet Place for years! I am really so very sad to hear this. More than sad . . . what a loss to downtown Menlo Park.

We will sorely miss Lynn and her great staff at The Pet Place. Lynn has helped me over many, many years – I am on my 3rd pup, and they have all loved to visit the store, sniff all of the good stuff and get a treat. Lynn is a gem and I hope she will enjoy smelling the roses and doing lots of dog walks.

We have been customers for more than 20 years and we will sorely miss the PetPlace. You don’t find service and caring like that any more. Best wishes to Lynn and Marc for a beautiful retirement.

This is very sad indeed. We have received incredible help and advice over the years, from Lynn, a wonderful person, on from what kind of dog food to buy to how to decide whether it’s the end with a pet. I cry just to hear about this. Of course we’ll contribute on the GoFundMe site, send an email to Lynn and Mark, and post a note on the PV Forum. Do you have Lynn’s email address? Or knowing her, a USPS address?
