Portola Kitchen closes after 20 years in Ladera Country Shopper

Ever-popular — and always tasty — Portola Kitchen closed permanently on March 4 as announced by owner Mike Wallau:

“It is with a heavy heart that we have made the decision to close Portola Kitchen. After 20 wonderful years, we have come to the end of our lease, and are not in a position to continue. We want you to know that we deeply appreciate your support and patronage, and want to emphasize that this decision was not taken lightly.”

As he moves to semi-retirement, he will focus his energy on Mike’s Diner Bar located at 2680 Middlefield Rd, Palo Alto.
