More photos from Atherton resident Doug Klein

Last week we posted an interview with Atherton resident Doug Klein — who now spends time in Palm Desert as well — about his photographic journey, with him telling us he prefers black and white. Here are a few more of his black and white favorites.

He writes: “Pictures of people are really my favorites but they are far more difficult. One of the great advantages of grandchildren is that they are natural subjects and much easier to get time with. I also try to let these images tell a story, or at least let the viewer imagine a story.

“Last fall I took a weekend trip to the eastern Sierras to see the fall colors. That worked out ok, but better was the chance to explore other sights, including Mono Lake. This is right after sunrise on a particularly stormy day. I have no idea how a large piece of driftwood managed to get to this shore, but again it was an image I had to have.

“Along the idea of finding images where you are, this egret is lifting off from the pond just behind our house early one morning a couple of weeks ago. I’m not a huge fan of wildlife photos, but do find ones that have interesting structure to be enjoyable.”
