Earth Day celebrated at Holbrook Palmer Park in Atherton

There was a lot to see and a lot to learn at today’s Earth Day celebration held at Holbrook Palmer Park in Atherton today in advance of the global celebration held on April 22.

Walk in from the west end and you encountered a flock of sheep enjoying the park’s lawn across from chickens courtesy of Peninsula Feed Store.

Continue in a circular direction to find two dozen or so booths offering information about products and community services, including local police and fire departments.

Additionally there were vendors offering kids the opportunity to create art all to the backdrop of music and games. Oh, and some creepy, crawly insects to view at eye level!

First held on April 22, 1970, Earth Day now includes a wide range of events coordinated globally by earthday.org, including 1 billion people in more than 193 countries.
