Annual Michele Swim and Paddle held in Seal Beach

The Annual Michele Swim and Paddle, in memory of Michele Daschbach Fast, who died in the Salon Meritage mass shooting on October 12, 2011, was held in Seal Beach on Sunday, September 29.
125 swimmers, paddlers and supporters participated in the event which is organized each year by Michele’s brother, Rooney Daschbach, and raised close to $9000 for the Seal Beach Animal Care Center, one of Michele’s favorite charities.
While the fog hung on the coastline during the swim, the sun came out shining for the post swim lunch held at Rooney’s Sunset Beach home. It was a beautiful day and event for Michele, who grew up in Atherton before raising her family in Seal Beach.
Michele and seven others lost their lives in the largest mass shooting in Orange County history. All were remembered in prayer on this 13th anniversary of the event.
