Need help with daily tasks? Connect with local students on Sparrow

Danish born Bastian Barsoe knew he wanted to start his own company when he moved to California to attend Menlo College. His desire was realized with the launch of Sparrow about a year ago.
The online platform connects thousands of local students with families and small businesses in need of help with various tasks.
“This has proved really useful to students,” he says. “We’re have about 3,000 from different schools in the Bay Area, some college and some high school.”

Why Sparrow?, we asked Bastian.
His reply: “Sparrows are small but resilient birds that thrive in various environments. Despite their size, sparrows are strong, persistent, and impactful in their actions. This resonates with students who are in the process of growing, gaining experience, and shaping their futures.
“Similarly, students are resourceful, determined, and capable of adapting to challenges as they balance academics and work. This reflects how students, even while navigating their studies, can make meaningful contributions to their communities.”
Sparrow is currently connecting most with families but Bastian hopes more small businesses will take advantage of its services in the future.
