Menlo Park downtown housing development update

The City of Menlo Park released a Request for Qualifications (RFQ) on Wednesday, Jan. 29, 2025, for developers to submit their experience, ideas, and approaches to development of affordable housing, replacement public parking, and other potential uses on downtown Parking Plazas 1, 2 and/or 3.
Additional key requirements of the RFQ include demonstrating experience with similar projects and community engagement, and providing information about construction phasing and financing approaches. The RFQ is the next step in exploring development on the downtown parking lots and follows the City Council’s action on Jan. 14 to authorize the release of the RFQ. The City Council deferred taking action on the exempt surplus land resolution until more information is available.
The complete RFQ is available at menlopark.gov/downtowndevelopment. Responses are due Monday, March 31, 2025 by 5:30 p.m. Staff is targeting late spring/early summer to bring a recommendation on the next steps to the City Council.

I’m new to Menlo Park (6 months) due to my husband’s heart transplant & continued care for the next year. This community is the most unfriendly of any I have visited. Also, downtown Menlo Park is a no go zone for a disabled 70 yr old. ( even for ACE hardware trips)What are you thinking of bringing people here without designer clothing? Very sad.
