Erik Burmeister named Superintendent of Las Lomitas Elementary School District
A name familiar to many Menlo Park and Atherton residents — Erik Burmeister — has been selected to be the next Superintendent of the Las Lomitas Elementary School District.
The School Board will make it official at its April 16 meeting, and Eric will be on the job starting May 1, 2025.
Erik was with the Menlo Park City School District for 12 years first as principal of Hillview Middle School where he was named California’s Middle School Principal of the Year in 2012.
He was Superintendent for the last six years of his tenure. He is probably best known for his creative approach to reopening MPCSD schools during the COVID pandemic.
Erik took a break from superintendency for the past two years, serving as an educational coach and consultant.
“The Board is enthusiastic and united in its confidence that Erik is the right leader for this moment,” wrote Paige Winikoff, President of Las Lomitas Elementary School District Board of Trustees. “He brings with him a proven record of consistent, principled, and steady leadership. His experience in ensuring fiscal stability, building community trust, and fostering strong relationships with teachers and families makes him uniquely qualified to guide LLESD into our next chapter.”
“I am 100% sure that Las Lomitas’s best days are ahead,” said Erik while interviewing for the position.
