Unleash your creativity at the new Spiffy Pottery Studio

Why Spiffy, we asked Jeffrey Liang, the owner of the new pottery studio in the Willows. He pointed that it’s a word that has kept its meaning through the years. “And it’s a word for all ages,” he added.

The studio is certainly spiffy. Crispy clean white walls surround the pottery making equipment — and the atmosphere is super friendly.

Jeffrey is joined in this new endeavor by his wife, Joann Shen, the non-potter in the group who keeps the books and helped scout a location.

“Initially we worried that given the residential location, there wouldn’t be the kind of foot traffic we were hoping to see,” she said. “But this is such a community hub!”

Adds Jeffrey: “The power of a tight community can make a difference in a big way.”

Victoria Almeida is the third member of the team — and the reason they are offering kids classes.

“I wanted to be an animator but fell in love with sculpture at the Academy of Art University,” she said. “Then I created a sculpture program for kids at an art school I was working at.

“People tell us they are eager for a creative outlet. But they also come here just wanting to have fun. They take one class and then another class. It’s very gratifying.”
