“Doors opening” at Flea Street as the restaurant approaches its 45th year

There are changes at Flea Street that owner Jesse Cool views as “doors opening.” There’s a new chef and one familiar face has a new role.
“First of all, with Andrea Thuerk now Director of Private Dining, we’re looking forward to more celebratory dining.,” says Jesse.
“And we’re working with [County Supervisor] Ray Mueller to connect with more farmers on the coast.
“Flea Street has a deep history of almost 45 years. Surrounding myself with innovative people while holding onto that history makes me feel loved.”
For her part, Andrea, who has been part of the staff for four years, is looking forward to showcasing produce and putting together some themed dinners. “There are so many great farms in our area,” she says. “One of our team members grew up on nearby Webb Ranch.”
Isabelle Nunes is the new face in the group but possibly a familiar one to patrons as she’s been Executive Chef at a number local venues.
“My family were orchard farmers in Santa Clara, and I was fortunate to grow up in a home where my mom cooked every day,” she says.
“I love the pace of kitchens — it changes every day. And ultimately I love working with my hands to create dishes that people feel nourished by.”
“I’ve admired Jesse for years, and am excited to embrace all of the aspects of the restaurant. I want to cook some of the classic dishes found in her cookbooks and to celebrate local farmers and ranchers.
“What sets Flea Street apart is Jesse being there — the mentorship, love and care. It oozes with it!”
Flea Street is open Tuesday through Saturday from 5:00 pm to close.
