MPPD partners with Atherton PD for back-to-school safety campaign

by Contributed Content on August 25, 2025

With students back in school, the Menlo Park Police Department is partnering with the Atherton Police Department in a joint effort to keep local streets safe for everyone. Together, the two department’s Traffic Enforcement Divisions are rolling out a targeted Education and Enforcement Campaign on Wednesday, August 27, focused on:

  • E-bike safety: Encouraging smart, lawful riding habits, especially among young riders.
  • Pedestrian protection: Reinforcing safe practices for those walking to school, work or around town.
  • Motorists passing in bike lanes: Educating drivers on how to safely share the road with cyclists and enforcing proper passing behavior.

Whether you’re walking, biking or driving, we all have a role to play in creating a safer environment.
