U.S. Poet Laureate Ada Limón is coming to Menlo Park in appearance open to all

On Wednesday, September 10, Trinity Church in Menlo Park is welcoming the 24th Poet Laureate of the United States, Ada Limón, for an evening of conversation and poetry. The wider community is invited. Register for free event.

Limón’s appearance is part of the church’s inaugural Season of Creation, exploring the liminal space between words and worlds — where language meets landscape and where human creativity encounters creation.

The program includes:

6:00–6:30 pm, Main sanctuary: Conversation
U.S. Poet Laureate Ada Limón and the Rev. Jude Harmon, Rector of Trinity Church, explore Limón’s journey as a poet, the inspiration of the natural world, and what it means to create today.

This is followed by a poetry reading from 6:30–7:00 pm. Limón will read a selection of poems related to the natural world from her acclaimed collections.

From 7:00 to 8:00 pm in the Trinity Courtyard, there will be a catered reception and book signing, Advance copies of Limón’s newest collection, Startlement, will be available for purchase.

Trinity Church is located at 330 Ravenswood Ave., Menlo Park.

Ada Limón is the author of seven books of poetry, including Startlement: New & Selected Poems; The Hurting Kind, which was a finalist for the Griffin Prize; The Carrying, which won the National Books Critics Circle Award and was a finalist for the PEN/Jean Stein Book Award; and Bright Dead Things, which was named a finalist for the National Book Award, the National Book Critics Circle Award, and the Kingsley Tufts Award.

Limón is the recipient of a MacArthur Fellowship, a Guggenheim Fellowship, and was named a 2024 Time Magazine Woman of the Year. She served as the 24th Poet Laureate of the United States.
