Six development teams selected to submit proposals on downtown parking lots

Editor’s note: The following information was provided by the City of Menlo Park.
The City of Menlo Park issued a Request for Proposals (RFP) on Sept. 15 to seek development of housing on downtown Parking Plazas 1, 2 and 3 while maintaining public parking, following direction by the City Council on Aug. 26. Six development teams selected by the City Council have been invited to submit detailed proposals and have until Dec. 15, 2025.
All three sites are located within walking and cycling distance of the Caltrain station and El Camino Real. The goal of the project is to provide housing close to downtown jobs, services and transit and address the City’s housing needs. The RFP requests plans for a minimum of 345 affordable residential units, plus replacement of the existing surface parking spaces.
The selected development teams are Alliant Communities, Eden Housing, MidPen Housing, PATH Ventures, Presidio Bay Ventures, and Related Companies with Alta Housing. These teams advanced after demonstrating their qualifications during an earlier Request for Qualifications (RFQ) process.
Following the Dec. 15 RFP deadline, the City will post the proposals received to the project webpage. Staff will evaluate proposals and may conduct finalist interviews and a community open house before making recommendations to City Council.
Information and updates are available on the project webpage.

The article provides clear updates on a city project, but I wish it included more details about the specific qualifications theyre looking for. The community engagement steps sound great, though.
