Scare Wars is the theme of the Halloween decorations on Gilbert Avenue

Emails Evie Filipek about her family’s always over-the-top decorated front yard for Halloween (787 Gilbert Drive in Menlo Park):

“For the past couple of years, we’d talked about doing a Star Wars theme but always decided against it because we knew it would be a huge commitment and take a lot of time to pull off.

“Since this is the last year with one of the kids in the house — I’m graduating high school in 2026 — we decided it was time to go big or go home and finally take on the theme we’d always been too nervous to try.

“My mom has always loved the Star Wars movies and made my brother and me watch them growing up, so it’s a theme that’s special to our family. We also love choosing ideas that connect with both kids and adults in the community, and Star Wars being a well-known movie franchise for multiple generations, the theme Scare Wars does exactly that.”
