Winter is here – sandbags available for Menlo Park residents
Winter is here, which means rain for Menlo Park. To be flood-ready, keep these tips in mind:
- Know your flood risk and whether your property or neighborhood could be affected.
- Be flood smart and play it safe. Protect your property and do not drive through flooded areas. Please obey road closures and detours.
- Sign up for SMC Alert and the City’s Weekly Digest newsletter. Following the City’s social media channels will also help keep you informed.
- Visit the storms and flooding webpage to learn how to prepare for winter weather.
Community members can use sandbags to redirect and divert water away from a home or business. Sand and empty bags are now available to prepare for wet weather. Please remember to bring a shovel. Menlo Park has three sandbag stations available:
- Burgess Park parking lot at Alma Street and Burgess Drive
- Fire Station 77, 1467 Chilco St.
- During heavy rain events, a temporary pop-up is available at Pope St. Island: 222 Laurel Ave.
For instructions on how to fill sandbags, visit the sandbags web page.
