MPCSD offers science materials free to public on November 24

The Menlo Park City School District is retiring a large quantity of Lawrence Hall of Science FOSS program weighing balances and is offering them up to the public or other non-profit organizations that would like to make good use of them. They are all in good, working condition.
If you are interested all items are FREE, first come first serve, and the district is holding a public showing at the Menlo Park City School District – Main Office,
181 Encinal Ave, Atherton, on Monday, November 24, 2025, from 8:00 am to 12:30 pm.

These scales can serve as an excellent visual tool for teaching one-step equations in math. They reinforce the idea that any operation performed on one side of an equation must also be applied to the other side, or the equation becomes unbalanced. For example, adding weight to one side of the scale requires adding the same amount to the opposite side to maintain balance.
