Woodside Vineyards founder Bob Mullen passes away
Robert Mullen, who founded Woodside Vineyards, has passed away at the age of 99.
An email from the winery said: “We are forever grateful for his vision and dedication, and we raise a glass to Bob and the legacy he leaves behind. We will share details about memorial arrangements once they are available.”
This past August, after 63 years of continuous operation, Bob sold Woodside Vineyards to friend and colleague Jerold O’Brien of Silver Mountain Vineyards in Los Gatos.

RIP Bob. Congratulations on a long and happy life. We enjoyed many tastings at your winery in Woodside and still enjoy Woodside Vineyard wines today. We’ll raise our glass to you wirh the next bottle that we open. Thank you for many wonderful memories of summers tasting on your patio.

Many fun times at your wine tastings over the years. We loved to come to your home and see the beautiful vineyards. Enjoyed your delicious wine at our wedding 34 years ago.

Rest in peace, Bob. We have so many wonderful memories of the times we spent with you: harvests, bottlings, long afternoons on the patio on Kings Mountain Road, helping with tastings at all of the venues where they were held, and our trip to France. You were a thoughtful and generous friend and we are so grateful for having known you and been part of the Woodside family. We will miss you and we will celebrate you on what would have been your 100th birthday on February 12, 2026.
