Wow – that was some rainstorm overnight in Menlo Park

Update as of 3:00 pm: Hamilton Avenue from Willow to Henderson Avenue has been cleared and the roadway is open.

Update as of Noon 12/24: Menlo Park has resolved the flooding issue on Hamilton Ave. with assistance from Caltrans and West Bay. Hamilton Ave. between Carlton Ave. and Willow Road remains closed temporarily as water drains. Street sweepers are on the way to clear the debris. If you slept through the torrential downpour that occurred overnight in Menlo Park (and surrounding areas), more power to you! According to InMenlo weather watcher Dennis Nugent’s digital gauge, 1.63″ fell between midnight and 9:30 this morning. That brings the season-to-date total to 7.30″ (which includes 0.08″ from Tuesday). Reminder: The rain season runs from October 1 to September 30.

According to the Menlo Park Police Department, Hamilton Avenue from Willow to Henderson Avenue remains closed due to flooding. No evacuations are needed at this time.

The City of Menlo Park and West Bay are working together to clear storm drains and have contacted related agencies to clear the flood.

Avoid travel in the area until further notice. Do not call 911 unless it is a life threatening emergency or you need to evacuate.

Wet weather impacts resources

  • For blocked storm drains, sink holes, landslides, levee damage and fallen trees, submit issues via menlopark.gov/ACTor call Public Works at 650-330- 6780 weekdays from 7 a.m.–4 p.m. (Note: City Hall will be closed Dec. 24 – Jan. 1). Please use the 650-330-6300 number after-hours and during the City Hall holiday closure.
  • For power outages and gas leaks, call PG&E at 1-800-743-5000 and check
    their outage center map online.
  • For sewer problems, call West Bay Sanitary District at 650-321-0384.
