LLESD and City of Menlo Park seek community input on vision to reimagine La Entrada Field

The Las Lomitas Elementary School District (LLESD), in partnership with the City of Menlo Park, is inviting community members to help shape a vision for the future of the La Entrada field as the two agencies explore applying for a State of California Prop 4 Parks Grant.

If awarded, the grant could bring up to $8 million in state funding to transform the existing field into a modern, accessible community athletic facility and park designed to serve both students and the broader Menlo Park community.

“This is an opportunity to think creatively about how a well-used community space could serve students, families, neighbors, and the broader Menlo Park community for decades to come,” said Superintendent Erik Burmeister.

“Before submitting any application, we want to hear directly from the people who use this space or would if improved facilities were available.”

Preliminary ideas for the site include an all-weather running track, an environmentally friendly turf field, expanded open green space, play areas for families, improved accessibility, convertible tennis/pickleball courts, and a dedicated dog park for community use after school hours.

To gather community input before submitting a grant application, the district and city are hosting several Community Input Sessions and have launched an online survey so residents can share their ideas and priorities.

Community Input Sessions

● Thursday, March 12 — 9:00 a.m. | La Entrada Multi Use Room

●Thursday, March 12 — Lunch Session | Students Only

●Thursday, March 12 — 6:00 p.m. | La Entrada Multi Use Room

●Saturday, March 14 — 1:00 p.m. | La Entrada Multi Use Room

●Wednesday, March 18 — 4:00 p.m. | Phillips Brooks School

“Grant funding is never guaranteed,” Burmeister added, “but this is a chance for our community to come together and imagine what this space could become.”

> an environmentally friendly turf field

Is this natural grass or plastic? We should avoid plastic.

Thanks,
