Woodside Heritage Tree Award applications due on April 5

by Contributed Content on April 2, 2026

A Heritage Tree is large, has unique value, and is considered irreplaceable.

The Town of Woodside appreciates the beauty of the town’s natural setting and encourages the care and nurturing of special trees.

The Town awards certificates of recognition annually to owners of heritage trees, based on the size and condition of the trees and the care they have received. Eligible trees —including Quercus (oak), Sequoia (redwood) or Cedrus (cedar) — are judged by the Heritage Tree committee and meet one or more of the following criteria: outstanding specimen, unique in size, age, species, or historical significance. Awards may also be given for the best preserved tree and the best newly planted tree.

If you are interested in nominating a tree or trees for the Heritage Tree Award, please visit www.woodsideca.gov/hta for an application and return it by Sunday, April 5. Awards will be announced during the Woodside May Day event.
