Menlo Park police officer involved in a collision as a result of a vehicle pursuit

The Menlo Park Police Department issued this statement:
On May 27, 2026, at approximately 12:54 pm, San Mateo County Sheriff’s communications center issued a be‑on‑the‑lookout for a vehicle connected to an assault with a deadly weapon incident.
Menlo Park Officers were alerted that the suspect vehicle was in the Menlo Park area. A short time later, officers spotted the vehicle speeding, and a pursuit began eastbound over the Dumbarton Bridge. The suspect was not apprehended.
During the response, one of the Menlo Park officers was involved in a collision with the center divider, west of the toll plaza. The impact caused the patrol vehicle to spin and make contact with an uninvolved vehicle.
The uninvolved party did not sustain any injuries, and their vehicle had minor damage.
The officer was transported to a local hospital for non-life-threatening injuries and is doing okay.
The California Highway Patrol (CHP) took the collision report.

Surely it is time to start using drones for vehicle pursuit. I read recently that the San Francisco police have had very good results doing this.
