Spotted: Second grade marketplace at Laurel School

On Wednesday, (6/3) Laurel Lower Campus’ plaza opened a one-day market, showcasing student-designed and made goods in the annual 2nd Grade Marketplace.
Kindergarten, first, and second-grade students shopped to support the project-based learning unit, which focused on business, economics, and charitable giving. All proceeds benefitted the Red Cross.

Project based learning units use real world questions or problems to drive meaningful integration of content areas, such as reading, writing, technology, science, and social studies.
Laurel students participate in at least three PBL units each year, often culminating in a special event or showcase, like yesterday’s market.
