Fit Kids marks 15 years of helping children stay active and healthy

by Linda Hubbard on June 25, 2026

Looking back at when Fit Kids began 15 years ago, founder Ashley Hunter sums up her motivation succinctly: “I was passionate that all kids had an opportunity to engage in physical activity.

“This past school year we had 192 programs in 12 states — and we’re not even scraping the surface!”

New this year is a Fit Kids Coach of the Year, awarded to Dustin Rowland.

Ashley is eager to continue to expand.

“I’m surprised there hasn’t been more attention to the health of our children. It’s such an important issue. Kids are still overweight and unhealthy.

“The one good thing: people are aware how important it is to be active, but they don’t know how or what to do it. We’ll just keep pushing to increase awareness.”
