Parade, picnicking, and a circus — all part of 4th of July in Menlo Park

Once again, the City of Menlo Park outdid itself by throwing quite the celebration of the 250th anniversary of our July 4th Independence Day.

The morning begun with a parade starting on Alma Street and ending on Burgess Drive, led by two City of Menlo Park motorcycle police, followed by “Old Tom” and the City of Menlo Park Fire Department. Vice Mayor Jennifer Wise came next with the City of Menlo Park 4th of July banner.

The large parade of people continued onto the grassy area under the red, white and blue balloon arch where the city provided many tented shaded areas for family picnics. There were over 10 food trucks to keep everyone well fed.

Circus Bella was a big hit as always, putting on two shows at noon and 2:00 pm to crowds of people from Menlo Park and surrounding cities. It is estimated that there were over 3,000  in attendance.

Overall, it was a great day, with wonderful weather and an always friendly City of Menlo Park staff, who always put on a wonderful event under the leadership of Jennifer Mosso, Nick Szegda and team.
