M-A grad Simran Patel receives award for her work with Hillview sixth graders

Now headed off to the University of Indiana, Menlo-Atherton High School grad Simran Patel worked with Hillview sixth graders during her senior year teaching them practical money management skills. The goal: to encourage them to make informed financial decisions at an early age.
The project earned her a Girl Scout Gold Award, the highest achievement in
Girl Scouts. It recognizes individuals who identify a systemic community issue, develop a sustainable solution, demonstrate exceptional leadership, and execute a lasting impact through planning and service.
During the award ceremony, Simran was also presented with the Girl Scout Pinnacle Award, an elite distinction recognizing Girl Scouts who have completed all three of the organization’s highest milestones: the Bronze Award, Silver Award, and Gold Award.
