Laurel Upper Campus students view very special film during class

Students at Laurel’s Upper Campus had the chance to watch a very special film during “Squirrel Session” on Friday, August 28.

Third grade teacher Dana Russell wrote a book several years ago called Mocha, A Loyal and Loving Cat, about how a remarkable cat showed her owner unconditional love and support during an especially tough time.

The organization Mutual Rescue in partnership with Humane Society Silicon Valley, made a film about Ms. Russell’s book, which included filming at the school’s campus with her students in spring 2025 (pictured top and below).

The video is now part of Mutual Rescue’s film library, where Ms. Russell is grateful that Mocha’s story will impact more people.
