Bert’s Brew opens for Moonalice at The Guild on September 18

At 8:00 pm on Friday, September 18, Bert’s Brew will appear at Menlo Park’s Guild Theatre, opening for Moonalice. Buy tickets in advance online.

“This will be our first time at the Guild and will feature vocalist Jenifer Freebairn,” emails band leader Bert Keely.

The group also features Bobby Parker (from Half Moon Bay, leader of Aardvark) on drums and backing vocals with Belmont resident Leo Yerukhimovich, who was raised on classical piano in St Petersburg, Russia while studying songs “leaking in from the west via radio.”

Inspired by the 60s psychedelic happenings around Stanford University, Bert released a psychedelic folk album in 1979 that is still valued by vinyl collectors as representing the tail end of an era.

Since the pandemic, Bert’s Brew, has been serving up genre-blind tastings of jazz, folk, and rock with blues and Latin flavors.
