E-bike and e-scooter injuries on the rise among kids and teens

A Stanford Medicine-led study analyzed medical records from more than 13,000 young people to examine rising rates of e-bike and e-scooter injuries across U.S. pediatric hospitals.
Researchers found e-bike and e-scooter injuries were more severe than those from nonmotorized vehicles, with brain injuries about twice as common and higher rates of hospitalization.
Researchers recommend policies such as age restrictions and speed limits for e-bikes, noting that about a quarter of e-bike injuries occurred in children under 12.
