Yulin Chen will be giving a free public lecture tonight (9/28) at the SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory. In the talk, titled Leading the Charge: Exotic New Materials for Future Devices, he’ll describe a new class of materials – “topological insulators” – that achieve robust performance by tying the paths of electrons in knots. These materials may lead to the creation of new types of semiconductors. Chen will discuss the special properties of these materials and the promise of their applications.
The lecture will begin at 7:30 pm in Panofsky Auditorium. Adults are required to bring a photo ID to enter the SLAC campus, which is located at 2575 Sand Hill Road, Menlo Park.
